Best of IBTS Drag Race 9

By: Josh Monsoon

IBT’s Drag Race 9 is almost at an end and I have to say that I am impressed with the [individual] talent so far. Overall I give it good passing grade!

The competition is down to the Final 3 and I think now is the perfect time to share some of the most memorable moments. I disclaim that these are my personal opinions and they do not reflect the opinions of the Kramkowski Corporation. Let’s begin.

Best Mini-Challenge Performance

Best in this category goes to Monty Manicure. Monty thought outside the box and gave the nerds in the crowd a necessary dose of nostalgia. Dressed like the famous Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town she lip-synced to the iconic Pokémon theme song “Gotta Catch ‘Em All” in an attempt to represent the decade of the 90’s. And boy did we eat it up. Everyone screamed in excitement as she passed around Pokémon cards amongst the crowd. Did you love it? I know I did.

Best Runway Reveal

This season did not offer many reveals on the runway, but best in this category goes to Melon Drag. During the “Dripping in Gold Challenge” a large treasure chest was brought to stage, only to reveal the real treasure inside: Melon decked out in perfect gold. She walked the runway with a golden crown, a golden eye-piece, jewels, and covered herself in gold coins. Cha-Ching! Melon definitely let us have it with this one. Also, did she have a hook as a hand, or am I mistaken?

Best Performance in a Group Challenge

To say the least, Season 9 of IBT’s Drag Race has had a lot of group challenges and the queen who has stood out the most in the category is Luna Devine. Luna impressed us most in the “Duets Challenge” during the third week. She was paired with Melon and they performed to an iconic moment from the movie Chicago. She was precise, she was sexy, and she energized the crowd with her dynamic dance moves. We are all very pleased. No wonder she’s known as the Lip-Sync Assassin of Season 9.

Best Lip-Sync for Your Life

First off, let’s pretend the Lip-Sync to Your Life to Madonna’s “Girl Gone Wild” never, ever happened. As viewers, it’s in bad taste to see a queen not know the words to a lip-sync.

Thankfully the queens with the best LSFYL had nothing to do with that, and best in this category goes to Luna Devine vs. Layloni D’Amore.

Luna and Layloni had to wow-the-crowd performing to one of everybody’s favorite underrated pop songs “Potential Breakup Song” by Aly & AJ. The crowd livened up as the two contenders fighting to stay in the competition got every word right! In the end, Luna was able to impress the crowd the most and make it to the Top Three. I personally had a fabulous time. Good job, ladies.
