Explore the Berkshires; a summer getaway

By Josh Monsoon

The Berkshires are a region of mountains in western Massachusetts that serve as a forest getaway for people during the summer months. Temperatures range from cold nights to hot afternoons and there is always a chance for rain during the week.

The area is composed of many small towns like Lee, Lenox and Pittsfield and most of the people who live here enjoy outdoor activities like river-rafting, swimming in lakes, fishing, and hiking.

However there are two sites that are very popular during the warm months.

These are Tanglewood, a live music venue, which is also the summer-home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra; and Jacob’s Pillow, a camp locale with three theatres known for bringing live world-class dance for two entire months.
