Understanding Epididymitis: Symptoms and Treatments

I recently got diagnosed with Epididymitis. The E.R. doctor that treated me slightly explained what it was, but he didn’t give me detailed explanation. He seemed very busy, so I forgave him and did some research.

From the symptoms I experienced it causes enough pain in a man’s testicles to make his lower back ache; it makes his urethrae sting when he pees; and the percussive pain can hinder walking. It’s probably best to take care of it sooner than later.

According to Mayo Clinic research epididymitis is an inflammation of the tube at the back of the testicle that stores and carries sperm. This can then become acute or chronic depending on how long it goes untreated.

The National Library of Medicine says, “…the majority of cases are caused by a bacterial infections.”

The types of bacteria that cause it can be from sexually transmitted diseases or from common urinary pathogens. To put it simply a doctor will treat epididymitis with antibiotics, but the antibiotics will very depending on what caused it.

Basically, “Do you have an STI or not?”
